Terminology
Term | Meaning | Remarks |

carrier | Anything that can carry items. | A carrier can be a pallet tote or box, but also just a label. |
item | An article that is on stock. |

location | A physically fixed location to store carriers or items. | A location is always is in exactly one zone. |
article | An SKU. | This can be a CU (customer unit) or pack. |
customer unit | The smallest possible article, by definition has no subpacks and a multiplier of one. | All stock and amounts in orders are in this size. |
pack | An article with subpack set and often a multiplier of >1. |

zone | A collection of locations. | Features such as “pick-to-light”, “fifo” and others are connected to it. |
order picker | A person that takes items from stock. |

warehouse | A collection of zones. |

property | Meta-data that can be configured to any table in the system. |

order | A list of order lines, defined by a type. | Valid types are inspect, inbound, outbound, count, move. |
order line | A line, belonging to an order, with mainly article-location-amount or carrier-location information. | Properties are often used on order lines to implement customer-specific functionality. |
manco | When an order picker picks less than what is in the order line. | No stock change is done for the unpicked items. |
